Former San Antonio Mayor Looks to County Judge Candidacy

The former Mayor of San Antonio, Ron Nirenberg, said that he is considering a run for county judge for Bexar County.

But he says he won’t make a final decision until after the November election.

The move could set up a March Democratic primary showdown with current Judge Peter Sakai.

Sakai is currently considering running for second term as county judge.

Sakai responded to the potential candidacy online, saying, "At one point Ron's bags were packed for DC. At one point he was running for Governor, then Senator. [...] It’s clear Ron never found the greener pastures he dreamed of.”
